08000 116 016: Violence Against Women Support Hotline Available Round the Clock

Available round the clock, 365 days a year and free of charge: the Violence against women support hotline offers victims a way of receiving competent advice securely, anonymously and regardless of disability whenever they need. The counsellors provide women with confidential support and if needed can help them find appropriate local support options in their area. This new support service thus caters to a concrete social need and plays an important role in directing victims, relatives of victims, friends and professionals to appropriate support resources.

By offering low-threshold, local and 24-hour services, the helpline hopes to make access to the support system easier for women facing violence. While it is primarily intended for women who have experienced violence, the hotline also aims to inform friends and relatives of victims of violence and professionals alike on the different forms of violence and the support options available.
If required, qualified counsellors can refer the caller to support facilities and specialised counselling centres in their area.

The toll free helpline is available night and day on 08000 116 016 or on the Internet for those requiring sign language. The caller can remain anonymous. The helpline also works with interpreters and can offer over-the-phone counselling in Turkish, Polish, Russian, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Greek, Serbo-Croatian, Bulgarian, Romanian, Farsi, Vietnamese and Arabic.
